Hi guys, Jess here - Three years ago, Luna the donkey was rescued from a life of neglect. Thanks to the kindness of so many amazing people, we were able to raise the money for her treatment — and she completely turned her life around. Luna flourished. She found joy, health, and freedom. She’s always been a playful soul: running to greet us, braying loudly when she sees us, full of life and love.

But over the past couple of weeks, Luna has taken a sudden and serious turn for the worse.

She’s suffering with chronic diarrhoea, weight loss, and has spent most of her time in the last few days lying down — weak, in pain, and clearly not herself.

The vet has now diagnosed her with chronic diarrhoea and dehydration, likely triggered by damage to her gut microbiome. She is now unable to absorb the nutrients she needs. Her body is not producing enough protein, and she has very low levels of healthy gut bacteria.

The only treatment that can save her now is daily IV fluids to rehydrate her and stabilise her condition, along with a course of powerful probiotics, prebiotics, and activated charcoal to rebuild her gut health and allow her body to start healing and absorbing nutrients again.

So far, we’ve managed to give her her first IV treatment, charcoal and probiotics — and already, she’s started eating again and seems a little brighter. But we need to continue this treatment for as long as it takes for her to fully recover. Every day matters.

We are starting this fundraiser with a target of £3,500, which will help cover:

-Ongoing IV fluid treatments (£500 per session)

-Probiotics, prebiotics, activated charcoal (~£500)

-Veterinary care and call-out fees

-Emergency supplies and supportive care

We have already spent over £600 and will keep doing everything we can, but we can’t do this alone.

Luna has so much life left to live. She’s a fighter, and she loves life — and we want to give her every chance to make it through this. If you feel moved to help, any contribution — big or small — would mean the world.
