Please Help Remi (Joey NYBC ) fight for his life

Donation protected

My  name is Marielle.- I am the mama of Remi (formerly Joey with New York Bully Crew).

if you read nothing else, PLEASE help with any amount you can in aiding in Remi’s severely high hospital bills as he fights for his life. He has been diagnosed with a brutal case of Babesiosis. Which is a disease caused by microscopic parasites that infect red blood cells. Many different species (types) of Babesia parasites and the illness can go from asymptotic to life threatening.  Unfortunately.   battling a disease that is treatable when you have a spleen, is not in Remi’s favor as he had to have his removed due to the abuse from a POS, a hematoma and a giant mass later, his chances of overcoming this, has been quite the challenge.

He has defied death twice but one thing he never had and now does? A family. People who love him. Every single penny is a step closer to this Remi’s better days. He will never know abuse, neglect, baiting, torture, living on the streets, being starved or pain again but we need your help.

A friend of mine reached out from Miami saying “NYBC just pulled him from being up next for euthanasia. I’ve never seen a dog in this bad of shape. He was covered in blood, roaming the streets Miami. He’s going to need someone very special to heal with and to love him”. I had just lost my best rescue girl to terminal cancer the day before, but thought “ok, there’s never a right time and to a dogs life, thats right time is avoiding death. Paying it forward to Miley, Foster and Calvin’s  honor felt like the only thing that made sense. It hasn’t been easy, but anything worth having never is

Before meeting Remi for a trial sleepover, he was already being treated for SO many issues, severe anemia, a swollen and distended spleen, numerous blood transfusions, bite wounds- old and new covering him from head to toe, a heart murmur, swollen spleen, kidneys, liver and other organs. He was bloody, so emaciated that he had not ounce of muscle or fat on him. cracked teeth. He was broken- inside and out.  he never had a bed so the crate floor ripped open his knees, pads and elbows, filthy with fleas, blackheads from severe neglect everywhere, open bite wounds and the most broken, petrified eyes I’ve ever seen. This wobbly, hardly able to walk, patchy, skin and boned boy hesitantly walked into my home.

Fighting the immediate tears seeing how brutal he looked, I got on the floor with this petrified boy, who’s head was four times the size of the rest of him and waited…and waited …. And waited, until he finally, slowly inched himself over to me. Since then he has had a splenectomy, transfusions, severe anemia, kennel cough, heart worm positive, incision reactions, lack of healing, random blood blisters, a heart murmur, fainting spells, the list just kept piling up but Remi never, ever once was anything but happy, grateful for the simple things. He had never had toys (still has 0 idea how to play or really “dog” but he’s trying) he had never had a warm bed. He had never barked before, he did not make a sound for over a month. Not a single one. Now he sounds like my very own land seal. He is the opposite of every “fear” you’d have from a dog with his past.

there hasn’t been a person, baby, group, bed or animal (ok, minus cats)!! That he has not just wanted to give and get love from. He is the most inspiring, docile, strong, loving dog. Very early in the morning on July 1st, Remi seemed so confusingly off.his gums were so pale, he couldnt take two steps without needing to lay down from being exhausted and out of breath. A very faint tail wag and pleading eyes. He just wanted to be near me, rest on me and his eyes hardly stayed open. So, off to the vet we went. From there- EVERYTHING changed the second the tech told me to rush Remi to the hospital, immediately and that we had no time, that they’d call me. I think my soul left my body because everything from there on out was a blur until I heard they needed to rush Remi into NUMEROUS expensive transfusions and he would be fighting for his life from then on out. It’s been over 10 days, a RBC depletion, numerous blood transfusions and a mass amount of tests later, Remi had Babesiosis- a disease caused by microscopic parasites that infect red blood cells. Per what we were told, this is commonly found amongst dog fighting rings. Given the harm that was done to Remi’s spleen, he is having a deadly battle with this illness. The bills are over the top but this sweetheart deserves an over the top life with his larger than life heart and love for every single thing!

thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you to New York Bully Crew (especially Angelique, Steve and Mike - Remi and I could not have done an ounce of this without you behind him, fighting day in and out for him and with him!)

let’s all make a tiny contribution to Remi and dogs just like him, and to the rescues who cry and don’t give up every single day in this cruel but rewarding world of rescuing. Thank you again for helping us saving his life once and for all, so this beautiful boy can have the life he has ALWAYS been so deserving of.
