PLEASE HELP SAVE GERARD BUTLER (AKA FERDIA)

Hi! Six weeks ago, we were adopted by a handsome dog whom we named Ferdia, named after the famed warrior in Irish mythology. We were horrified at his condition. He had what looked to us to be a broken hip. We assumed he had been hit by a vehicle. He was also extremely emaciated. We fed him, gave him shelter and cared for him as best as we could. He can get around nicely on three legs, so we assumed he had been injured a while ago and had gotten used to getting around that way. During the last couple of weeks, we noticed he had two open, draining wounds, and we knew if we didn't get him help he would die a slow, painful death from sepsis. Our paths crossed with a lady who does animal rescue and she agreed that if we could get Ferdia to her (she lived several hours away), she would get him to her vet! So we delivered Ferdia (who apparently has never been in a vehicle before!!) to her, and yesterday he was assessed by a vet. His leg is indeed fractured because he had been SHOT. His wounds are due to bullet fragments left in his hip, causing infection. He is currently receiving IV antibiotics and pain medication. They vaccinated him and will give him meds for flea and tick and heartworm test. He has a LONG road ahead of him. His vet bill will be very high and he cannot have the amputation until the funds are secured. He has been through so much and he deserves help. He is FULL of love and gentleness.
