Hi, my name is Elsie, and I’m setting up this GoFundMe for my mum and our beautiful 5 year old dog, Baxter.

Baxter is more than just a pet — he is family. He has supported us through some of the hardest times in our lives, always there with unconditional love, comfort, and loyalty when we needed it most. Now, he’s the one who needs help.

Over the past few weeks, Baxter suddenly became very unwell and was clearly in a lot of pain. My mum has done absolutely everything she can for him, taking him to the vets repeatedly and paying for tap tests, blood tests, scans, x-rays, and treatments just to find out what was wrong. So far, this has cost £7,000, all in the hope of helping him feel better.

We’ve now been told Baxter urgently needs to be referred to a specialist for an emergency MRI, which has shown he has a slipped disc. The vets have said he needs surgery to give him the best chance of recovery and a pain-free life. Unfortunately, this surgery will cost a further £3,000, which my mum simply cannot afford.

Watching Baxter suffer has been absolutely heartbreaking, especially knowing that the treatment he needs exists but feels out of reach. My mum is devastated — not because of the money, but because she’s terrified of losing a dog who has given us so much love and support.
