Owl and Company Bookshop needs your help!

Hello,

We are Owl and Company Bookshop, a local women-owned independent bookstore in Oakland, California. We bought the bookshop in February 2020, not knowing (of course) that as of March 20th 2020, we would be closed for six months due to the lockdown and pandemic. During that time of closure, we worked hard to completely re-organize the shop into the cozy and organized space it is today. Unfortunately, our landlord did not give us any rent relief, and we often paid out of pocket to keep the store open.

Our primary stock is used books with many unique and rare titles. We also sell new books with a special nod to the Women's Prize for Fiction (UK) and Hugo/Nebula Award-winning Science Fiction. Our new inventory also has many non-fiction titles that empower and reflect our diverse Oakland community. We love to promote local authors through author-reading events and social media. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, Owl and Company Bookshop is struggling.
