Hey friends,
As some of you may already know, we recently fostered 5 German Shepherd puppies. Four of the puppies found wonderful homes with people who adore them and spoil them daily. However unfortunately one of the pups didn't have the same fate. His name is Rex and he really needs help.
We thought we did everything right when looking for homes for these pups. When we met the people who showed interested in adopting Rex, we talked to them extensively, asked them a ton of questions, inspected their home and backyard. We made sure they would have the time and funds to care for a puppy and that they were willing to dedicate the time that would be neccessary to raise a big dog. They checked all the boxes and burst into tears when we told them they can adopt Rex. We kept in touch with them via text, asking for updates weekly, and everything was seemingly fine.
This week, about a month post his adoption, we decided to check on Rex in person and we were horrified over what we discovered. He was hiding under a deck in their back yard. When he saw us, he managed to drag himself out and even though he could barely get up or walk, his tail was wagging and he looked so happy to see us. He was skin and bones, it looked like he hasn't been fed in a really really long time. He was sick and throwing up. His owners claimed that he's been totally fine and that he was just having an "off day". When we pointed out that he looks really sick and needs medical attention, they claimed that they don't believe in taking their dogs to a vet. He hasn't been seen by a vet once or gotten any of his vaccinations. They completely lied to us about their situation and intensions. It is impossible to understand how someone could have a dog that sick living in their home for weeks and watch it slowly die without doing anything about it. What was once a super healthy, happy and affectionate pup was now a scared, skeleton with fur, one breath away from death. It broke our hearts.
The good news is, Rex is back in our possession and we immediately got him the medical attention he needed to stay alive. He has a stong will to live and he's fighting. The bad news, his condition requires extensive medical care and will cost thousands of dollars. We are determined to do everything in our power to help Rex bounce back but we really need your help. Anything you can donate to help us bring Rex back would be appreciated beyond words. Although we thought we did everything right, we feel like we failed this dog and put him in a situation no dog deserves. Please help us make it up to him and show him that humans really do care.
Thank you in advance for your contributions. It means the world to us.
