Please Support Tommy's Expenses for Kidney Failure

Donation protected
Hello ! My name is Sherrie and I am here to ask for help some very kind friends of ours who are in need of financial help.

Cherish Eagen has worked at McIntosh Middle School in Sarasota, Florida for 16 years. She is a 7th Grade Science Teacher on the Hawks Team. Their Grandson is in the photo, Jace is definitely Tommy's little buddy. Grandpa is everything !

Tommy Eagan has become ill and has been in the hospital for 19 days with kidney failure. While they were in the hospital they received the results of Tommy's kidney biopsy. Unfortunately, it showed that the kidneys are too damaged and scarred, as well as being atrophied, and will not be able to rebound. There is nothing more that can be done in terms of saving/healing the kidneys. Tommy was released from the Hospital - Saturday, April 6th 2024.

Starting in summer of 2022, Tommy applied for disability as his legs and back were just getting worse and he could not work anymore. It is so bad at this point that often times his legs will just go completely numb and with no feeling there at all, he will just fall down. He was on disability before - he's been off of it for about five years because he wanted to try and work some more. However, this time around, they messed everything up. They actually didn't file the paperwork when he submitted it. They did not find this out until December of 2022. At that point, they got the correct paperwork in, and then they waited. They denied him in November of 2023. They are in the reconsideration phase. But, he still is not getting an income from there. He hasn't had an income since October of 2022 because that's when he completely quit working. They have been living on Cherish’s income - Which over half of goes to rent. Adding all of this on top of where they were already struggling. They are really hurting right now. They really have no money even additional expenses like copays for medicine, or if they will have any copays for the dialysis, or anything like that. They simply do not have it.

For the time being, Tommy will be on dialysis 3 days a week, 4 hours each time. The only other treatment option is a kidney transplant, which will be in the plans at a later point. For right now, he will simply be doing dialysis.

Please consider donating to help aid in the rising expenses due to the illness & the unpaid time off of work of both Cherish & Tommy.
