I don’t usually post about personal challenges, but I’ve reached a point where I need to ask for help.

At the beginning of September, I became seriously ill and was diagnosed with a condition requiring lower-back surgery. Since then, I’ve only been able to work a few hours here and there—far from enough to cover our bills.

My wife, who lives with Multiple Sclerosis, has had three spinal procedures since May, in addition to the many other things she deals with living with MS. All of this means our household has had virtually no steady income during this entire period.

To add to the difficulty, my short-term disability claim was recently denied because the insurance company classified my condition as “pre-existing,” which I’ve never heard of before as far as disability claims go.

We’ve exhausted all we had and are now severely behind on just basic living expenses.
