Hi, my name is Ocie and I am Robin and Jim’s daughter. Me, Ruby (Jim’s sister) and Kendra (my daughter) created and will be managing this fundraiser for Robin McDonald in order to help her with the expenses arising from the sudden loss of her Husband and soulmate Jim. All proceeds will go directly to Robin to help pay for the medical bills that are pouring in and also help her make ends meet with the loss of income now that Jim is gone. In 2020 Jim had a stroke which caused some cognitive and speech issues. Things seemingly improved with a lot of Physical and Speech therapy but then on April 7, 2023 he had another more major stroke that left him paralyzed on his right side. After a week at OHSU he was transferred to the Nehalem Valley Care Center for skilled nursing care along with Physical, Occupational and Speech therapy. Things seemed to be looking well for him even though he suffered from a lot of cognitive disruptions but we still thought the prognosis was good. However on the morning of May 31st he was found unresponsive and rushed to the Seaside hospital where he was found to be in a coma. Later the results of the CT Scan showed the devastating results, Jim had another massive stroke on the other side of his brain and would not survive. He was given hours to live and he passed away later that night. Oddly throughout this most recent event, unexpected medical bills from the 2020 stroke have been coming in the mail such as the ambulance trip to Portland, deductible amounts, etc. Jim was a Vietnam Vet so had VA coverage as well as Medicare but 3 years later Mom found out they have not covered all those expenses. We know there will be a lot coming in from this too. I don’t want to give out too much personal info about my Mom but they have property that will need upkeep and Jim always did all the labor himself. He was so strong and seemingly healthy until the stroke in April. Mom will need to hire out a lot of the work now that he is gone.
