Please help Robin and Steve through a difficult time
Donation protected
My friend Robin and her partner Steve are going through an extremely challenging time. I have created this fundraiser in the hope it will relieve them of some of their financial worries for now while they deal with the devastating circumstances they are experiencing.
In Robin's words:
Friends, I’m finding it extremely difficult to ask for help, but my family (me, Steve and our houseful of rescued cats) is in an extraordinary position. It all still feels like a bad dream, too much all at once, but it’s unfortunately real.
This year was supposed to be the year I fulfilled my dream of moving back to Nova Scotia but instead we’ve been dealing with one obstacle after another. First, Steve, my husband was diagnosed with lymphoma in January. Thankfully it’s low grade currently and he’s stable (Steve already deals with spinal stenosis, a painful condition). Then, just a few weeks later, an annoying stomach pain for me became very painful and I ended up in emergency. After many tests, it was determined I had a cancerous mass in my gallbladder, and it has spread beyond that. I just found out that my cancer isn’t curable; hopefully chemo will give me some more time and alleviate my symptoms.
Meanwhile, I’m in excruciating pain, and virtually bedridden and can go longer run my pet sitting business. Steve is taking care of most everything including our cats many of whom have their own medical needs. My income is totally gone, and our day-to-day expenses are still there, including a large chunk that goes to vet bills, cat meds and cat food. My biggest concern is making sure that my cats have a stable home and that they can still be fed and see a vet when needed. I’ve devoted a large chunk of my life to helping cats and now I have to ask for help for their sake.
If you can donate at all it would be appreciated and, if not, I totally understand, just hold us in your thoughts. And don’t waste time, enjoy life while you can, you never know when things can change dramatically.
Thank you and bless you,
Robin
