Please help Robert and Rodney!

We are asking for support to care for these little lives. Any donation or share of this gofundme post will help. The money will be used to pay their recent emergency/surgery vet bills.

We have a lot of cats. Seven of them! Most of them are over 10 years old now, so it is safe to say we have a senior center. We did not ask for any of these cats, they are all rescues. We love them and they are a part of the family. Our little girls learn so much about compassion and we all benefit from their company. Each kitty has an epic story of survival that lead them to entrust us with their care. Their care is getting more expensive as they age.

My wife and I do not make a lot of money. I am in grad school and work in education, she is laid off due to the virus, and we have three kids below the age of 10.

Rodney, black cat, kept building up crystals in his bladder and his urethra would become inflamed making it impossible for him to urinate. This is life threatening and required 1 trip to the E.R. (1 month ago) where he spent 3 days recovering. We noticed symptoms returning so immediately set up a perineal urethrostomy (PU) before another expensive stay at the E.R. was needed. For a PU they remove the penis and open the urethra to allow for any new crystals to safely pass through. This was the best life saving choice otherwise he would have been on 3 medications the rest of his life and still ended up the E.R. from time to time. The E.R. is $$$$.

Rodney is the sweetest boy in the world and deserves to live. He is our youngest cat at estimated between 8 and 10.

They grey kitty, Robert became very sick last week. He stopped eating and kept throwing up fluids. He lost weight very quickly. Once it seemed apparent it would not pass on it’s own, we took him to the vet. He had no obstruction and we still don’t know exactly how he became sick. The treatment they gave him worked! He was eating a little bit that night and is back to his old rascal self now.

A big thanks to Annalisa Rakugo Castaldo for donating $1000 before we started this gofundme. If it weren’t for her we would be asking for $3,277.

Please help us care for them if you can.

Thank you,

Dave, Nicole, Shannon, Isabelle, and little Violet

The black cat Rodney “Hotrod” was our last addition a couple years ago.
We were already way past our cat limit when this sweet boy showed up on our porch. He was obviously abandoned. He was starving but cared more about being loved then eating. We let him live under our porch all winter while we tried to find him a home. A few weeks went by and we noticed him limping. This went on for a while, so I took him to the vet. It was bad enough that we thought that they might take the leg off. I decided that the only way we would take him in is if they needed to take the leg off! Well they amputated his toe and we took him in. He has been such a delight ever since.

I adopted Robert 10 years ago. He was the skinniest, scrappiest, and baldest cat at a local rescue. His skin was so bad from flea dermatitis that it looked like the surface of the moon. He used to grab my hand lightly with his teeth and toss it over his head to pet him. We became good friends. Finally, I decided to foster him for a while to heal him up and find him a home. After a couple years and no success it was obvious that he had bonded deeply with some of my other cats and was part of the family now.
