Rizhik, who lived in Downtown Yerevan (Little Center) for 5 years and was rescued after a brutal car accident last year, now has a chance to come to Canada. Please don’t leave us alone, help me bring Rizhik here to Canada and complete this difficult rescue story with a new beautiful chapter.
Many will remember that in May 2024, Rizhik was hit by a car in the Downtown. Witnesses stated the driver intentionally accelerated and struck the dog. The impact was severe, and Rizhik suffered multiple injuries: internal bleeding, fractures in his arm and elbow, bruising, brain trauma, damage to internal organs, liver rupture, and a hematoma on the kidneys.
I’m deeply grateful to Dr. Mihran and the entire team at Vetexpert Veterinary Group for admitting Rizhik urgently and saving her life.
Rizhik’s abdomen was filling with blood and fluid, and she couldn’t urinate on her own. For days, the doctor had to empty her bladder manually until Rizhik eventually managed to urinate by herself. She later underwent a complex elbow surgery, during which Dr. Mihran saved her paw. However, due to non-union of the elbow bone, a groundbreaking stem cell transplantation was performed four months later, a procedure never done before in Armenia. The results were incredible. X-rays showed that the bone had healed and ossified beautifully.
Naturally, my family took responsibility for Rizhik’s post-surgery care, and of course, we never returned her to the streets. It’s now been a year since Rizhik has been living with us, cared for by my family.
Now, finally, there is a chance to bring Rizhik to Canada, where I will find her the perfect forever home. But we need to raise $1,450 to cover the required medical tests and transportation costs.
