Please help rescued horse, Apollo have his sarcoid removed
Rescued HorseWorld horse, Apollo needs a procedure to remove a sarcoid from the base of his ear. If left untreated, it will continue to grow, become more uncomfortable and impact the use of his ear. The vet can remove it with a laser at a cost of £600.
Sarcoids are persistent and progressive skin tumours called fibrosarcoma. Sarcoids do not usually go away on their own and affected horses often develop multiple sarcoids if left untreated. They can also grow and ulcerate making treatment more complicated which is why we need to treat this early.
Apollo came to equine rescue charity, HorseWorld in 2019 as a foal. He had been rescued with his mum Athena after they were found abandoned on council land.
Apollo was very nervous and untrusting of people, but thanks to the dedication and hard work of the HorseWorld team, he has grown into a confident young horse that loves attention. In fact, he will follow them around the field just to get a scratch under his chin!
It is hoped that Apollo will go on to become a ridden horse in the future which will increase his chances of finding a loving home on HorseWorld’s loan scheme or he may become part of the equine team helping vulnerable young people in HorseWorld's Discovery courses but at the moment, his comfort and wellbeing are the priority and we need to find the funds to meet his medical needs.
Will you please help us to fund Apollo’s veterinary procedure?
Any funds raised above what is needed for Apollo's procedure will go towards the care and rehabilitation of over 100 rescued horses living at HorseWorld.
More information about HorseWorld Trust: HorseWorld is a caring team and a safe environment for the rehabilitation and training of rescued horses. Some go on to be rehomed through HorseWorld's loan scheme, some remain at the sanctuary and others support young people in their personal learning journey, building confidence whilst creating life-changing opportunities and a positive future for both in HorseWorld's Discovery courses.
