Hi my name is Teesha, I am the eldest daughter of Renee.
On Tuesday the 7th Jan 25, my mum was hit with the terrible news that she had to rush to hospital without any pre-warning that she would have to rush to Rockhampton Base Hospital, where she was told that she has AL leukaemia.
Thus resulting in Renee being flown to Brisbane on the Care flight plane on the 8th Jan 25.
Where she now has to undergo numerous testing and was told that the leukaemia has started, instantly, fast and aggressively. Meaning once all correct and efficient testing has been completed she will then have to start her first round of chemotherapy ASAP.
Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow — the spongy tissue inside bones where blood cells are made.
The word "acute" in acute lymphocytic leukemia comes from the fact that the disease progresses rapidly and creates immature blood cells, rather than mature ones. The word "lymphocytic" in acute lymphocytic leukemia refers to the white blood cells called lymphocytes, which ALL affects. Acute lymphocytic leukemia is also known as acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Acute lymphocytic leukemia can occur in adults, though the chance of a cure is greatly reduced.
My mum is a mother to myself Teesha and my two little brothers Kristian and Lochlin. She’s also a grandmother to my 3 little girls Airlie, Kovie and Irie. Along with being a wife to her husband Terry.
Renee has been told that she can no longer return home for months as she will be an inpatient of the RBWH whilst commencing her treatment, along with that when she becomes an outpatient she still will not be able to return home for several months after.
My mum is a long way from her home where she shares with her husband Terry and her little baby Bentley (yes I know big boof head dogs can be babies too haha).
With this news she will no longer be able to work at this stage while she puts her main priority as her health and fighting this for her and her loved ones.
The financial stress that this is going to impact herself and her husband during this time is not something I want them to stress about.
Being Terry will now have to take time off work and be travelling back and forth to be with her. As they are from Yeppoon.
I ask from the bottom of my heart anything you could possibly help do at will help relieve that pressure from our family during this awful and difficult time.
