Please help or spread the word. A very huge hearted selfless woman has fallen on hard times. Jenny King is incredibly loving, single mother of two, for 18 years she has poured her heart into caring for horses and people who love horses. I honestly can't say enough kind words about her. With help from a small group of amazing people she rents and runs a large farm in Stonington CT. There she manages over 100 acres with 30 horses, some very old and young, all breeds and colors. It's all about the horses and horsemanship. She offers a sanctuary for both horse and owner and student at a very affordable cost. Being there really is a gift. Also many well behaved teenage girls thrive being there as well. She takes pride that it gives them a safe place to go in experimental times. While making them understand that its a privilege to be able to be around such gorgeous animals. She pushes them maintain good behaviors and grades. It truly is such a beautiful and wonderful place to be. Unfortunately the most important piece of equipment the John Deere tractor that they use for EVERYTHING has broke. From spreading the manure to watering the horses in their paddocks, to mowing, haying, brush hogging, doing the footing in the arenas, fixing the very long driveway, ECT the list is endless. This machine is in need of a MAJOR overhaul. It stopped running completely a month ago. She had D.H. Marvin and son pick it up to repair, but she was unaware of the extent of the damage. Everytime I stop by or call Jenny another thing needs rebuilding on it. They have been getting volunteered friends tractors or using a truck to haul things. My heart breaks for her. I was so saddened to witness how upset she was, last knew the bill was up to about $8600.00 and they still weren't done with it. Still the cost of that is far lower then a new one.
Please help no amount is to little. If we could raise more then the needed amount maybe they could get the farm a new one, or even another used one in case they are ever down a tractor again. As a single mother myself, and one who respects her keeping costs low for other single parents and other animal lovers struggling in this recession. I know this would change the world for them. Thank you so much.
