Please help Rebecca remain housed and safe

My name is Joyce and I am reaching out, together with my sister, Kimberly, trying to prevent our sister, Rebecca, from becoming homeless.

Rebecca is 60 years and has worked hard her whole life to take care of herself despite many difficult trials. In 2023 she suffered a number of medical problems that landed her in over $300,000 of medical debt and left her suffering from physical disabilities, diminished executive functioning and unable to work.

Together with the healthcare agent of the hospital, we have applied for disability. We are told her case is straight forward and should be approved. It has been 8 months and her file has not yet been assigned to an examiner. We are told that in the 23 years our agent has been in this position, there has never been a bigger backlog of disability cases in Georgia such that he agent company has lodged a complaint to Senator Ossoff’s office as a cry for help.

We are doing everything we can to help her. We continue to exhaust all available aid. We do not have anyone to take her in and cannot move her to a low income senior apartment, currently, as the lack of income disqualifies her. She is not 62 and cannot apply for social security. She will become homeless if we are unable to raise the funds to help her remain safe and housed until her disability is approved.

Any donation is a huge blessing and will be used to house her and keep her safe until her disability is approved.
