This is Pam Matson Mann. Here is her current story:
In March, I had my gallbladder removed. It leaked inside my abdominal cavity, causing a massive infection. I ended up with STAF and MERSA. The infections ended up attacking my organs. I collapsed at work, and by the time they got me to the hospital, my kidneys had completely failed, and my liver wasn't far behind. They weren't sure if I would live until the next day. Since then, it's been constant specialists, hospital stays, and medical crashes, which end in hospital stays. I applied and received FMLA, but when it ran out, my company fired me. This caused me to lose insurance. I have not worked since May 29th. I receive a small short-term disability payment, $300.00, but it will end soon.
The infections damaged my liver and kidneys so badly they are not repairable. I need a liver transplant and, depending on how quickly that happens, possibly a kidney transplant. That doctor is 5 hours away, which means hotel stays and more money I don't have.
I am now having to have my heart tested because every time my levels fall, I go into tachycardia.
Between the conditions I am battling, I stay sick 80% of the time. I also sleep a lot.
