Please Help Raise Funds for Josh's Medical Needs
Donation protected
I wanted to provide you with an update on Josh and his progress. He is back from the Shirley Ryan Center in Chicago and is now home in Maine. He has spoken a few words at times including saying Hi and No when being asked to do something that is non-preferred. When he returned from Chicago, unfortunately he came down with pneumonia a couple of times and also Covid. During that period of time, Josh lost some of the gains he had made in Chicago however, he is working in multiple therapy sessions a day to regain what was lost and to continue to learn new skills. He has been in good spirits and has a great sense of humor! He is never left alone during visiting hours because he cannot advocate for himself and he is constantly surrounded by family, especially his mom. The money that has been donated to this fund has been used to purchased an iPad so that he can work on using that to better communicate, cooling pillows, an air conditioner and a passive/active exercise bike which he loves and the remainder has been saved to use for his future needs. The plan is to eventually transition Josh to living at home. This will require major renovations and the purchase of a wheelchair van, providing he does not regain the ability to walk and we certainly have not given up hope of that happening and neither have the doctors! Our family could not be more greatful to all of you who have written, donated, shared the GoFundMe, and come to visit Josh! We are so blessed by your generosity and kindness. If you are able to provide any additional funds, please do and if you are unable to donate at this time please consider sharing the link. Thank you all so much ♥️
My name is Amy Hoffman, Josh's aunt. I am creating this GoFundme page to raise money for Josh's medical expenses. Josh was in a motorcycle accident and is currently in ICU at Maine Medical Center. He suffered a broken femur, a broken jaw, skull fractures, and a traumatic brain injury. On Monday, Josh was not responding to pain or light shined in his eyes, but by Tuesday morning, he was pulling away from painful stimulus and his pupil responses to light were "brisk" which the nurses say is what they like to see. He is still not giving any response to verbal requests, but it's still early in the recovery process. On Tuesday, Josh had surgery on his fractured femur to put a rod in that the doctors say will make him immediately more comfortable. That surgery went well. He has a long road to recovery. Josh and our family would be so appreciative of any financial support you can provide. If you are unable to provide financial assistance at this time, please consider sharing this link.
