Please help "Jeffrey" the stray dog

"Jeffrey" came to me at work on May 7th as a "drop off stray, hit by car appointment." A gentleman had been feeding Jeffrey for several weeks but did not formally adopt or take him in, so he had been a stray dog for quite some time. When he presented to me, he was unable to walk and his left leg was extremely swollen. Jeffrey was so painful that I could barely touch him without him reacting. After some heavy sedation and xays, it was determined that Jeffrey had a severely fractured left femur, a sacroiliac luxation and a fractured pubis. The man who brought him in could not take on the financial responsibility of surgical repair and requested euthanasia. During this entire ordeal, Jeffrey had been so sweet and mellow with us, and looked at everyone in the hospital with these adoring eyes. I couldn't bring myself to euthanize this dog, so in the interest of buying some time, the owner surrendered him to my care.

He's currently being cared for at the clinic I work at, but he needs surgery ASAP. I have been in contact with some wonderful local surgeons willing to provide a discount for his surgery that my husband and I will have to pay for out of pocket. The local shelters and rescues are unable to help us. We are willing to take on the care he will need post-op and rehabilitation to get him walking again, and I'm hoping after all is said and done, we can find him a good home. This boy deserves nothing less <3 

I know this is a very hard and trying time for EVERYONE right now and if your'e unable to help I completely understand - but if you have the means to give a little something to give this boy a chance, he and I would be eternally grateful.
