Please help provide relief for the al-Neder family in Gaza

Donation protected

My name is James Harker. I live in Bolton in the UK. I have started this fundraiser on behalf of my friend Baha al-Neder and his family, who are currently homeless and internally displaced in Gaza.

Baha’s family have tragically lost many members in the current genocide (including Baha's mother, brother, sisters-in-law, nieces and cousins) and many more family members have been injured (including children).

The al-Neder family have seen their family homes destroyed in multiple bombings. Their family business, a petrol station which the al-Neders had generously offered as a shelter for people made homeless by bombing, has now also been bombed and destroyed. Several family members, including children, have been injured without sufficient access to medical treatment.

Baha's immediate and extended family are now without any sort of home. They have been forcibly displaced 4 times. There are 11 surviving children under the age of 14 and 7 surviving adults in the al-Neder family: all forced to spend days outdoors searching for food and water; and nights seeking shelter in an area devastated by bombing.

During the relentless bombing of Gaza, the adults of the al-Neder family have lost the ability to earn a living, and the children have lost the education system which should be providing their schooling. The destruction of the economy in Gaza has also triggered a cost of living crisis, making it difficult to meet everyday needs such as securing food, water, and shelter. Typical days involve long walks and queues to purchase essential food and water under the constant hum of military drones, with no guarantee of shelter and no possibility of returning to the family's bombed-out houses while the invasion of Jabalia continues.

Starvation and famine is a very real threat in Gaza, with the UN’s Human Rights Chief Volker Türk recently emphasising that starvation is being used as “a weapon of war” against Palestinians.

In spite of this, the al-Neder family show incredible community spirit: sharing what they have with their cousins, neighbours and fellow displaced Palestinians - serving their community as they have always done.

The funds raised by this appeal will be used for relief and survival, helping the al-Neder family purchase essential food and water and find shelter as they continue to live through this ongoing genocide.

If they are able to return to the sites of their bombed homes (currently impossible due to the ongoing ground invasion) it will help them make rooms habitable again in order to provide shelter and safety for the family’s children.

Thank you so much for supporting my friend Baha and his beautiful family during this desperate time. Thank you for helping the children of the al-Neder family survive this horrific genocide.

Funds will be sent to the al-Neder family by bank transfer.

The plight of the al-Neder family has been documented internationally, including by the BBC, the Metro newspaper, and by the Guardian journalist Owen Jones. You can read more here:
