Important Update on Pooey
Wednesday April 28,2026
Hi everyone,
It is with a very heavy heart that I’m sharing this update. Although Pooey’s eye healed, at 18 years and 7 months old, many of her other age-related health issues have continued to progress.
Her dementia has worsened, she is losing balance in her hind end, and she is having increasing difficulty with her daily functions. She also has other ongoing health issues that are affecting her quality of life.
After many tears, and a lot of love and soul-searching, I have made the heartbreaking decision to call tomorrow and schedule a date to help her peacefully cross the rainbow bridge at home, where she feels safest and most loved.
This is one of the hardest choices I have ever had to make, but I know it is time to put her comfort ahead of my desire to keep her here.
I also want to be transparent about the funds that were raised for her care. Over the last year, $10,088 was raised through this fundraiser, and every bit of it has gone toward her veterinary bills, medications, treatments, diagnostics, ongoing care, and keeping her comfortable through her final chapter. Those funds have now been fully used for her care.
At this stage, I do need help with the costs of her final act of love: at-home end-of-life care, cremation, and an urn. My hope is to give her a peaceful passing in the comfort of home and to bring her ashes back home afterward.
Because of your generosity, I was able to give her the medical support, comfort, and dignity she deserved throughout this past year. If you are able to help one last time, or even share this fundraiser, it would mean more than I can say.
Thank you for loving her with me and helping me care for this very special little soul.
With love,
Pooey & me
Hi, my name is Donna Cohen and I'm trying to raise some money for my sweet girl Pooeys upcoming Healthcare. Pooeys a very special 17.5 year old. She's always smiling and loves to run, play and eat but this morning she had some kind of episode where she was disoriented and unsteady on her feet. After 10 minutes or so she was almost back to herself. We have an appointment booked with her wonderful vets tomorrow at 4pm. I'm asking for help to cover any upcoming appointments and medications she may need to continue to enjoy her quality of life. I promise to keep you updated. Thankyou so much.
