Hi, I'm Liane Schmit and I'm asking for some help for my son Peter to help with his medical expenses. He has had ongoing issues with his feet since he was 15 years old. He was diagnosed with a genetic anomaly by Mayo Clinic that causes neuropathy in his feet called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Because of this, he feels no pain which in turn causes more infections to occur and makes the healing process longer and harder. The severity of his condition has ramped up in the past couple of years. He has been hospitalized three times in the past two years, and has ongoing appointments with wound care for his foot that are approximately $1,300 per visit. He's had to have a PICC line several times before and is having to have another inserted currently so he can have long-term iv antibiotic treatment for these infections in his foot. Peter is currently employed, but all of these factors do limit his ability to work full time. He is working to pay for the insurance and expenses, but has moved back in with us so he can be able to pay the medical debt that he is building up due to this condition. Doctors want him to quit working and get off his feet to help the healing process; Peter has been looking for jobs that are work from home/low impact and has not had luck. He has also applied for short-term disability and has been denied. Any financial help would be greatly appreciated. These funds would go to help pay his deductible and out of pocket expenses incurred by this medical issue.
