Please help! My angel Peanut needs urgent surgery

Donation protected

Hello there friends, it's Laura and I need urgent help to raise funds for my fur angel Peanut.

"Nut" is my adopted Jack Russel/West Highland Terrier, Poodle cross beautiful mutt!! He came to me from California after my Aunts sister died 3 years ago. Originally he was found on the streets at 7 months old, taken to the pound and 1 month later Margie saved him from euthanasia 1 day before he was to be put down. He lived a sheltered wonderful life until she passed at 84, in 2018. My aunt couldn't take him, shelter refused him, so she called me. I was in a horrific motorcycle accident in 2017, couldnt walk, couldn't nurse, had just lost my lizard of 11 years 5 months before and figured, heck yes maybe we could save each other! It sure helped that he was so cute and looked so lost and sad. So Peanut flew in cargo ( giving himself laryngitis in the process from crying) to Toronto, arrived at my apartment with Aunt Pat and kissed me as soon as he saw me at the top of the stairs, it was like he knew. He was so nervous, scared of everything, was fear biting, I couldn't leave him alone. But with hard work, exposure and overwhelming love he overcame it all, and then some! No more feelings of insecurity, fear, abandonment, biting.

He became a whole new man. A confident, loving, playful, happy and super adventurous pup! We go everywhere together, he is always by my side. A dog that only knew a backyard, hated water was now doing everything with confidence, pride and joy. Meeting so many people, camping, going to the beach, hiking in deep woods, hanging out on bar patios and even going in to waterfalls. He loved chasing grandpa's lawn tractor, he loves roadside motels, hanging by the pool, he sits on motorcycles, as well as chases them when they ride in. Lol!! He is one awesome cool Pup. The love we have I can't describe, I call him my 4 legged husband. He has helped me through so much personal struggle, physical and mental. Has helped me through surgeries, spinal procedures, physiotherapy, and in my continued battles everyday to get my entire life back. I can not bear the thought of ever losing him like most pet owners, but feel that now is not his time. He is a healthy doggo and has so much more to give, I have more surgeries to go and we have so many more adventures to take!

SO HERES THE PROBLEM. In Feb. he developed a sore on his right lip, medial to his nose. It was healing, I figured it was from the plastic (BPA's) in the dishes he came to me with. Stopped using them, switched to glass it was slow healing but healing. He then got sprayed by a skunk on Good Friday, blasted right in the face, mostly on the right side where this now growth/wound has festered out of control. It remained small, I was treating it with a nurses/mommy care and it was getting better, then not, I believe his immune system was fighting but eventually could not. I took him to the vet in April concerned for his overall health as he was panting/sleeping more etc. Excessive blood work was done, all results were NORMAL, only 1 liver enzyme was elevated which is an inflammatory indicator. 3 Xrays were done. Heart -- Normal size. Liver-- Normal size, Trachea/Neck all good!! And she said nothing about the small wound on his face, nothing! Cost $750. Fine then, after that the sore was getting bigger and bigger and now it was hurting him. He was and is eating, drinking, normal stools, urine etc. But this growth was growing by the minute and looked horribly painful. Now he couldn't play due to pain from his mouth but he wanted to so bad. So took him back to Beaverton vet 16 days ago, another $200, no antibiotics, just pain meds, a cream and an estimate for a biopsy of $946. Not even removal. Why sedate him twice?? I wasn't happy. So 3 days later took him to a vet up the street from me. Oral antibiotics for 10 days, betadine rinses and told not to use the cream with the steroid because if it was an absess it would prolong healing, and he may need removal of this growth. Ok, but what about the skunk??? Is anybody listening to me, I feel it's not cancer, a tumor maybe, Toxoplasmosis maybe?? 60% of skunks carry this bacteria and he got spray on the open wound. Anyhow, antibiotics seemed to work a bit, betadine rinses seem to help. But it's so painful now, he won't even kiss me and he looks so damn sad, like."Mommy help me". He cries and shakes in pain at times, bites me if I try to help him through and it breaks my heart!! Took him back to vet 3 days ago and was told he needs a Specialists because its overtaking his lip and they can't do it, as it's in the worst possible area. The Specialists will end up being Thousands of dollars, well guess what he's worth every cent!!!. We have an appointment on July 14th with a vet hospital Internal Medicine for assessment, discuss biopsy, possible oncologist, but they can do surgery/removal regardless. But we also have an appointment in Pickering with Dr. RAJ on a friend's reference on July 12 and he removes mast cell tumors/absesses/soft tissue lumps etc and will be less expensive 100%. Ive spent $1100 so far, and desperately need help with the rest, as I am not working at the present time. He is my absolute everything, and such a sweet boy, he doesn't deserve to have suffered like this so far, or any further. He needs to be well again, and as for all the tests done in April 7, 2021 was told he's in very good shape. Even though they dropped the ball on the sore!! Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to listen and/or donate. I did the goal at $3000 as I have no idea right now what it will cost but it needs to be removed and I will update his progress along the way.
