Hello everyone

I am mortified to have to ask for help again, but it seems my lot in life. I am asking for funds, not for myself, but for my horse Partly Clouty BWF. (PC) I have been fortunate enough to have friends that decided to continue pay for most of his care due to my hard times. I thought the worst was over and that we could FINALLY just age in peace, but now my life long sound horse is lame. He’s been lame for two MONTHS and I haven’t been able to afford to call a vet out. Honestly, I don’t even know if $500 would even cover a lameness exam and X-rays anymore. It’s probably $2K now. I just know that he needs to be seen. I’ve tried everything short of stall rest and nothing has worked. I don’t want to put the burden of caring for a stall bound (herd bound) horse on my already overloaded friends. It would not be pretty. I’m guessing that’s where we are heading, tho. The other choice is once again euthanasia…….but he’s not THAT lame. He is sore enough that he won’t do anything, but a slow walk. He’s getting fat…I don’t know what to do. I don’t even have the gas money to go over and help with him. I need to at least get him looked at . Then, I’ll have some tough choices to make.

He has injured his back left fetlock. It’s warm, swollen and sore. He is starting to get bad for the farrier, etc. Cold hosing, massage, magnets, heat, etc have not helped at all.

I am SO sorry to be asking this in such terrible times. I know everyone is struggling right now. I’m just about ready to lose my SNAP and then my Medicaid next year…..I shouldn’t own a horse, but I do. I bought him when I had a fantastic job at Riley Children’s Hospital before my right brain injury started ruining my life….please spare a couple bucks for PC……it’s horrible seeing him in pain. He used to run and buck like crazy. He’s a high energy horse. He just snakes his neck now when I know he wants to run…
