On October 25, while on vacation in Italy, my brother Patrick had a very serious fall and has been in an Italian hospital since then. He broke his left arm badly, broke his pelvis, damaged his spleen, broke ribs, and has a paralyzed vocal cord, among other injuries.
So far, he’s had his arm repaired with multiple surgeries but he still needs to have plastic surgery on it to finish the job. His pelvis is still awaiting surgery, and the doctors are just starting to look at his vocal cords. His spleen has stopped bleeding so they’re no longer worried about that. However he does have a very long road ahead of him.
Patrick’s arm was the first priority, so now that that’s been partially repaired. Now they’re planning what to do with his pelvis. We’re hoping for surgery on November 12 when they will insert a plate and screw his hip back together. We have no idea how long he’ll need to remain in the hospital afterwards. We also don’t know yet whether the plastic surgery on his arm can wait until he’s home. Communication is a major problem since we don’t speak Italian and the hospital staff has limited English-speaking skills, and of course, dealing with insurance companies.
As you can image, medical bills are mounting up. In addition, Patrick will probably require a seating upgrade for the flight home. We were hoping to get insurance help with the trip home but Blue Cross has denied that.
We are hoping to raise money to put towards helping with the ever amounting medical bills, alleviate some of the financial burden on my mom who is currently in Italy overseeing Patricks care, and to help cover some of the costs to get him home.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and to help my family.

11/11/2018 Patrick will be having surgery on his pelvis tomorrow. Then hopefully we will have a better idea on when he can travel. Thank you everyone!! We appreciate all you have done! You are amazing! ❤️
