Dear all,
This is my dad Gustavo. He is seventy two years old and lives in Quito, Ecuador where my family and myself come from.
He is the sweetest, funniest, most caring, nurturing, supportive human I know, and I don't say it because I'm his daughter, it's a fact!
This past Monday June 7th the restrictions in Ecuador (a country decimated by coronavirus) for quarantine rules relaxed to level 2.
After 70 days in quarantine, he was looking forward to finally get out for a few hours so he went straight to his office.
He was enthusiastic to start a potential small project that would help with the recovery of his finances after these hard times. However destiny had other plans. He miscalculated his step and trying to reach at something from a shelf, he fell on his leg which fractured and displaced his hipbone and broke one finger.
Today, June 9th, he had to have emergency hip replacement surgery. This is a great burden for my mom back home who cannot leave the house due to the virus and it was my brother who took care assisting him.
Between my mom, my brother and I, we are taking care of all the hospitalization expenses, however we need help to cover the remaining costs of his operation and months of physical therapy.
I am asking you all my friends and acquaintances for help. Any amount counts.
This is my first time openly asking for aid like this. I thought about it long and hard because I understand how difficult these times are for all of us.
However I know that it is with the help of friends and family that we survive and thrive. Whatever you can donate, we wish it will multiply tenfold for you and your loved ones.
Much love and gratitude,
Adela
