Please help Palawan after Typhoon Odette
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Adam Kennedy from UK and have been in Palawan for almost 2 years...
Sadly on December 17, 2021 Typhoon Odette hit Palawan, Philippines (the island where I have been since March 2020) after already having hit various other parts of the Philippines including Siargao, Surigao, Cebu and many other places.
Roxas, where my partner Bert is from was very badly hit and has left the town absolutely devastated with homes and businesses flattened to the ground. Not only have a lot of people lost their home and are now left with no roof over their head, they have also lost their livelihood on top of this. As the vast majority of electricity poles were taken down by the force of the typhoon there is also no electricity and it is predicted that due to the scale of this it will not be fixed for many months. People have quoted that this could be up to 4 months.
Further to this, the main road to the city of Puerto Princesa has also been destroyed and there are several bridges down so vehicles can't pass which is hampering the aid supplies which makes it all even worse.
It absolutely broke my heart to see the devastation that has been caused and as Christmas is known as a time for giving in many cultures it is only right that we step up to the mark and try to help people.
We are raising money for food parcels and essential needs that we will personally distribute over the Christmas period. I know this has been a terrible year for everyone with Coronavirus and as it is Christmas people may not have much money so please donate what you can, if you can, no matter how little it is. It will go a long long way to help out and thank you so much in advance!
Thank you
