Please help out our son

Hello family and friends and Facebook friends this is the hardest thing that I had to write down in my life. Please I'm asking for your help for our 19 year old son Gabriel Casado. On August 4th he coming home from his 2nd job and was in a head on collision and broke his lower back and can not feel below his waist but very happy for him to be alive.
At 10:30 p.m. the accident happened and we did not find out until 8:30 the next morning because my son told the police officer Not to tell us because he didn't want to put more on his mother's and my Ex-wifes plate after just having 4 blood transfusion do to her health issues. So as our boy is getting back surgery I was home sleeping and my Ex-wife who lives around the corner and was home.
Now I know the law states that a person who's 18 is considered an adult. But as a parent I would have wanted to know about my boy. I truly wish who ever helped my son that night came and got us so my son knows his parents are right outside.But some how it got on social media, So don't tell the parents about there child by law BUT Tell social media.
So I do not know how to put an amount on our son so all we are asking for is $10.00 as the total amount the rest to my son will be just extra blessing from all of our family and friends
