Please help our Uncle Wayne

Donation protected
It is with a sad heart our family is asking for your help on behalf of our Uncle Wayne (Wayne Brown). Most of you know Wayne well, but you might not know what has been happening for the past year.

Wayne was diagnosed last summer with Stage 1 adenocarcinoma of the stomach. This came right before my Grandma Brown had her accident (she was hit by a car and in the hospital/rehab for a long time). Wayne had surgery right before Christmas after rounds of chemotherapy to shrink the tumors. The surgery resulted in Wayne getting 60% of his stomach taken out.  Grandma was still in rehab recovering from her accident while this was all happening. Needless to say, the family was going through quite a bit all at once!

Wayne had complications after surgery and ended up having additional surgeries to mitigate the complications. After he was released things seemed to be looking up for a couple of months. He then got sick again, with what we thought was a viral illness that had been going around. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The sickness was a result of advancement of the cancer and inability to tolerate the chemotherapy he was started on. He ended up in the hospital once again and this time the cancer spread significantly. The cancer advanced from Stage 1 to now fully metastasized throughout his body.

Palliative chemotherapy was started to decrease the tumor burden throughout his abdomen which are causing blockages, impeding his ability to eat or drink. Wayne was in such intense pain it was decided to keep him completely limited on oral intake and provide all nutrition through a central line in chest. Now, the only way Wayne can get nutrition or fluids to keep him alive is intravenously.

Chemotherapy and/or any treatment method is no longer optional. Wayne’s cancer is terminal. Currently Wayne has been in and out of the hospital due to pain, anxiety, and general end-of life complications. Watching Uncle Wayne go through this is heartbreaking.

Unfortunately, he cannot work and yet the medical bills are still flooding in. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated for him. And if you cannot help, we will pass along any messages and kind words as I'm sure they would brighten his day! Thank you in advance for your thoughts, prayers and messages. Our family appreciates any amount of support as we try to provide comfort in Wayne’s last days.
