Please help our sweet Luna recover from a vicious dog attack

Dear friends, family, and animal lovers,

Our beloved dog Luna was viciously attacked by a vicious Pitbull-mastiff, and vet medical bills are rapidly rising. We're reaching out to you today with heavy hearts and a plea for help.

Our teenage daughter was walking Luna in our neighborhood and as she stopped to "scoop", a huge Pitbull-mastiff burst though it's owner's front door and attacked Luna, biting and mauling her while my terrified daughter was screaming, trying to hold onto the leash so Luna wasn't dragged away.

The owner rushed out and pulled his dog off Luna, and returned inside- he never spoke or even checked to see if my daughter or Luna were ok, and have refused to take responsibility.

Luna underwent surgery, suffering many puncture wounds and huge bite wounds extending from her front left side, left upper leg , across her shoulders, upper back all the way to her right side.

She is now battling a bad infection, requiring antibiotics, drains and daily flushing of her wounds.

Her wounds were so severe that her entire upper back was torn from the muscle and now, due to severe tissue damage (the skin is dying, and turning black) the wounds are not healing but splitting/reopening.

Luna will need multiple surgeries to remove all the dead skin tissue and will require skin grafts.

She will likely lose the entire area of skin from shoulder to shoulder.

It will be a long road to recovery.

I have attached a few images (apologies, they are graphic) of her injuries and the healing issues she is facing.

The first 2 images show her wounds the day after surgery with the drains in place.

The last 2 images show some of her current skin damage/dying skin tissue which will require multiple surgeries to remove and reconstruct.

The medical expenses for Luna's treatment and vet hospital care are overwhelming and ballooning with each day, and we are struggling to cover them on our own.

This is a pet-owner's worst nightmare, as no one has large emergency funds to cover such pet emergencies.

This is why we are humbly asking for your help, to receive the medical treatment, and surgeries Luna desperately needs to fully recover.

Luna is such a huge part of our family, always giving kisses and snuggles. Despite her pain and ongoing treatments, she is gaining strength everyday and has even had a few tail-nub wags and kisses for friends and family.

Your generosity will not only help alleviate some of the financial burden of Luna's medical bills and upcoming surgeries, but will also give her the opportunity to heal and return to her happy, loving, playful self.
