This isn’t something I’ve ever really thought about needing, and while I’ve seen plenty of fundraising campaigns as well as being donors ourselves for friends in need, we just haven’t ever imagined needing to ask for help in this manner. But right now, I don’t know what else to do. Today has been one of the worst days Allison and I have ever endured. The entire course of our little families lives has been altered. Our sweet, loving, and always chipper boy, Moses has suffered a severe trauma. The dog of a close family member who has always been welcome here was somehow triggered this morning and Allison and I were both awoken by the most terrifying experience of our lives. Moses has suffered severe trauma, and in the melee, three of us that were trying to stop it were also injured. We literally thought we were watching Moses get killed before our eyes. Thankfully we were finally able to separate them. As I rushed Moses to the vet, Allison was rushed to the hospital as well. She has a severe laceration on her hand that was stitched. She will need to see a hand specialist after the holiday. As of now she can’t perform her duties in the hospital, we are praying for her full recovery.
Moses suffered several lacerations and a fractured leg. He was rushed to surgery and sewn up. We received word from the vet that his leg fracture was more traumatic than we knew. It appears he has bone cancer in the leg, and it can not be repaired surgically. His nest chance now is to amputate the leg, afterwards we will found out exactly what cancer is there and most likely undergo chemo treatment. We are very hopeful that as he just had a checkup recently and all his blood work was normal , that we have caught it early enough to excise the cancer via amputation and he will heal up and be the sweet boy we love minus one leg. We have decided as a family that we are gonna fight for him and do whatever we can.
This is where the fundraiser comes in. His vet bills are already mounting and we’re not halfway through yet. With Allison out of work healing it’s going to be doubly tough. We would, as we always have, pick each other up and soldier on. But we are quite literally going into this fight that means so much, one handed. I know this holiday season is tough for many. We would appreciate beyond measure whatever you can put aside to help our Moses. He is truly everything to us, and we need him to get well soon.
Thank you and God bless,
Alex, Allison, and Moses
