It is with a heavy heart to inform you all that our very own sweet, funny and shy little Rosswel Arias, who is only 8 years old, has been diagnosed with a type of childhood liver cancer known as Hepatoblastoma.
This type of cancer is a rare tumour, with only about 8 children being diagnosed in the UK each year. There are stages I, II, III & IV but Sadly, the Hepatoblastoma has reached stage IV, which means it has spread. In addition to this, his tumours have been described as pretext 4, meaning all 4 sections of his livers have tumours and have been affected.
This means that our poor Rosswel may need a liver transplant along the line, particularly if the chemotherapy treatment does not work. He is currently on the donor list to receive a new liver in case the treatment fails.
The chemotherapy treatment began a few days ago with the aim of hopefully eradicating the tumours, which have spread. Doctors have also started Rosswel on an intensive/aggressive form of chemotherapy with the aim of shrinking the 4 malignant tumours found on his little liver prior to surgical resection.
Even though he seems happy in himself, survival rate for this type of cancer is still only 20%-60%. We would like to urge you to pray for our sweet little Rosswel and his family during this period. We have hope in our God to heal our boy. We also know that Hepatoblastoma responds well to chemotherapy agents when used to shrink tumours prior to surgery so we are hopeful! Let us all continue to lift him up in prayer each day.
This family's life has been turned upside down as you can all imagine. This could happen to any of us unfortunately. Mum - Martina is currently 4 months pregnant and works as a nanny/ cleaner. She is no longer able to continue working a she needs to be present during Rosswel’s intense treatments and surgeries ahead.
Dad currently works at Tesco but his income alone will not be able to sustain the family during these long difficult months.
His family have a long journey ahead hence why we would love your help to raise funds to support them during this period. Funds raised by this campaign will go towards meals for the family and Rosswel, bills around the house plus rent.
