In 2015 my mother first discovered she had breast cancer. Hearing that news was a complete shock to our family. We had no idea what to expect. Two years prior she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and now was facing a whole new battle that she had to fight.
Before any diagnosis’s, My Mother was a phenomenal recreational therapist for Dementia/Alzheimer’s patients. She’d bring so much joy and entertainment to many residents, forming bonds with each one . She’d always be doing her best to care and put a smile on their faces, and making sure they never felt alone. Unfortunately after symptoms of her MS started to show, she was no longer able to return to work.
Her illness took away something that she was passionate about that made a difference in others lives.
Not long after, that’s when she was diagnosed with stage-2 breast cancer. My Mom had to face multiple surgeries, major scaring, radiation, and a long healing process. After her follow up appointment, she was cancer free!
Approaching five years cancer free, we thought my mother was in the clear since her chances of it returning were very low.
A few weeks ago, in February 2020 they found a
lump during one of her routine checkups. At that
very appointment, they decided to do a biopsy right away. The results came back within a few short days and it turned out to be breast cancer again. It
broke my heart to see her having to go through this nightmare all over again.
She now faces a double mastectomy this coming week and possibly chemotherapy, depending on if the cancer spread outside her breast.
Despite everything my mother manages to have such a positive attitude and outlook on life. Not letting anything get her down because she is a fighter. Her optimistic energy is what makes her the strongest woman I know. I have faith she will rise above this and overcome any obstacle that life throws at her.
I am asking out of the goodness of your hearts to please lessen this burden on her financially. Insurance will only cover a small portion of the surgery, and it’s uncertain what else she will face down the road. This was extremely unexpected. The last thing I want my mom to worry about is medical bills piling up while she is trying to recover and get through this.
Any donation is greatly appreciated and would be a blessing to our family. It will help go towards medical bills, surgery after care, therapy, and any other medical procedures we have yet to learn. Thank you for taking the time reading this.
Any updates will be posted on here.
God Bless
