On August 28,2022 my mom, Sara Silva Millan, was involved in a car accident in which she was the passenger in a vehicle that got rear ended by a drunk driver. She was rushed to a hospital in Riverside where she had to undergo cervical spine surgery. As a result she was left paralyzed from the neck down and has only a small amount of movement in her arms thanks to the help from the amazing therapists from the hospital. Since then, my sister & I have driven back and forth every day from Anaheim to Riverside to care for her. Our mom has been a single parent since the passing of our dad in 2014. My sister and I have witnessed my mom preserve through tough times to provide for us. Despite some of our hardships, our mom was very social. She loved hiking, traveling, singing, dancing, and taking long walks on the beach. Our mom is in the process of being sent home from the hospital now because there has been a lack of insurance coverage to be able to have her sent to a rehabilitation hospital. From one day to another my sister and I are expected to get hospital equipment in order to care for my mom while she is at home.

El 28 de agosto de 2022, mi madre, Sara Silva Millán, estuvo involucrada en un accidente automovilístico en el que era la pasajera de un vehículo que fue acabado en la parte trasera por un conductor ebrio. La llevaron de urgencia a un hospital de Riverside, donde tuvo que someterse a una cirugía de columna cervical. Como resultado, se quedó paralizada desde el cuello hacia abajo y solo tiene una pequeña cantidad de movimiento en los brazos gracias a la ayuda de los increíbles terapeutas del hospital. Desde entonces, mi hermana y yo hemos ido y viniendo todos los días de Anaheim a Riverside para cuidarla. Nuestra madre ha sido madre soltera desde la muerte de nuestro padre en 2014. Mi hermana y yo hemos sido testigos de cómo mi madre se conserva en tiempos difíciles para mantenernos. A pesar de algunas de nuestras dificultades, nuestra madre era muy sociable. Le encantaba hacer senderismo, viajar, cantar, bailar y dar largos paseos por la playa. Nuestra madre está en proceso de ser enviada a casa desde el hospital ahora porque ha habido una falta de cobertura de seguro para poder enviarla a un hospital de rehabilitación. De un día para otro, se espera que mi hermana y yo consigamos equipo de hospital para cuidar a mi madre mientras está en casa.
