Hi my name is Tanya and we had a tragedy happen yesterday. Whilst I was out picking something up. Our teenage son Olly was listening to music (loudly) and dancing in our loungeroom. He'd not realised that our Toy Poodle puppy, Charlie (10-12 months old) had excitedly come up behind him. He was jumping around and jumped back on the dogs leg. I received a very hysterical phone call as he thought he'd killed Charlie and was extremely traumatised by it all. I got home as quickly as I could and carefully gotten him into the car on Olly and driven to the Animal Hospital on South Road. Sadly his right leg had a nasty clean break and the road ahead was looking unsure. An authopaedic surgeon had been called and they said there were no guarentees his leg if operated on would heal/knit back properly, so amputation would be the best option. They said if you come into a lot of money overnight we could still send him off to an authopaedic surgeon to have a go at but that could cost from $5000 upwards.... We just don't have that kind of money.
Amputation horrifies us but if he will make a full recovery and adjust we'd sooner that than putting him down. If you can spare any money to help us pay for his surgery, please do. We totally understand if you can't. I'm sick to my stomach over this. Olly is too...blaming himself for all the trauma. This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make. We all love Charlie Bear so so much and can't believe such a horrible accident could happen. Peace!
