Hello everyone! Meet Lil’ Guy, one of seven kittens that our adopted cat Ming Ming had.
A bit of his background to start off: his mother, Ming Ming, was taken in by my family after it was apparent that she had been abandoned. We posted everywhere to see if she belonged to anyone and it was clear... she was now ours. Her first litter was born outside and unfortunately, none of them made it. We noticed that she was very sad as we could hear her calling out to them at night. Once we found out she was pregnant again, we knew we had to act fast in order to give the kittens a chance and for her to be a mother.
Now here we are, seven kittens running around later, including Lil’ Guy. We noticed that our Lil’ Guy had a flat chest and took him to the vet on 8/3/25. They stated that an X-ray at the time wouldn’t show anything due to his young age, so they sent us home with antibiotics in case it was pneumonia that had deflated his lung. As time went on, Lil’ Guy was developing faster than his siblings. He was the first to start walking around, using a litter box, and eating kitten kibble. Despite this, he gained weight at a much slower pace than his siblings. On 9/5/25, our usual cuddly, quiet boy started to meow very loudly and avoided us at all costs. He was breathing harder than usual and looked as though he was putting all of his energy into taking a single breath. We went to the vet again and had him examined further. His X-rays showed us that he has pectus excavatum, which is a deformity causing his breastbone to sink into his chest cavity. The vet recommended that he stay the night with oxygen and close monitoring. Unfortunately, due to his size and current condition, the vet was unable to get an IV started on him. They recommended that he stay another night to give him the additional care. Later down the road, he may also need surgery to correct his chest cavity so he has the best chance at a healthy future.
❤️ We want to give Lil’ Guy the best chance possible and ensure that his quality of life has a higher chance moving forward. Please consider donating to help with Lil’ Guy’s vet bills — any amount, big or small, would mean so much and go directly toward his care. ❤️
