PLEASE HELP OUR HORSES IN THE CANARY ISLANDS

For 21 years El Salobre Horse Riding has taken holidaymakers in Gran Canaria on wonderful scenic treks through the hills around Maspalomas, riding our lovely friendly horses, many of them rescue animals, saved from dire circumstances or even the meat trade.
Anyone who has ridden out with us will testify to how well kept, happy and willing our team of gentle, kindly horses are.
Now we have been hit sideways by the Covid-19 crisis and tourism to Gran Canaria, like the rest of Spain, has completely shut down - now and for the foreseeable future. Our horses are unable to earn their keep but the bills for feed, bedding and the vet continue to mount. And, given the times we are living through, we are seeing more and more horses that need rescuing.
We currently have a family of 27 horses and ponies plus our naughty donkey mascot, Siyu, as well as an assortment of rescued farm animals. With zero income we have had to lay off staff and do all the work by ourselves. For us it is alabour of love but we live with the dread of one day having to sell off one or more of our lovely horses in order to keep the rest going through the bleak months ahead.
With that thought we are taking the Go Fund Me plunge to ask for your support in these difficult times so we can keep our herd together. Any amount you can spare is truly welcome.
