Please Help Our Friends Fight Their Biggest Battle

Donation protected
With heavy hearts, We are reaching out to our Friends, Family and Community to please share, and help our beloved Lorne and Amanda Perry fight the Ultimate battle.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Amanda for several years as a 911 Dispatcher for Red Deer and much of Central Alberta. She is one of the kindest people I know, always with a bright smile even during trying times, and unwavering kindness towards others. Her equally awesome Hubby Lorne worked as a City Transit Operator, making sure our kiddos get to school safely, and often bringing in their 2 pups for a Morale boost in Dispatch. We all know and love Lorne ❤️

Earlier this year, our friends received a detrimentally delayed diagnosis for Lorne, late Stage 3C Amelanotic sacral Lentiginous Melanoma. There is no sugar-coating this, The Doctor stated this is not a favourable Cancer to beat, Chemotherapy has limited success, and at this point he’s truly in for the fight of his life . There is lingering uncertainty about the spread of his illness, and a Stage 4 diagnosis cannot be determined as it’s undetectable in bloodwork or scans. Because of this, amputation is not a feasible solution. The symptoms first appeared on his foot, and there are several ulcers indicating spread up his leg.

Lorne has been off work this year, unwell and seeking a diagnosis, without WCB, income or adequate assistance. This leaves all the financial pressure on Amanda (not that we would know without asking) as she’s never complained or shown defeat. I heard her giggle and say “well we got groceries this cheque, so we’re doing well!” and we felt compelled to reach out to the Community they serve. When I asked what would help them the most, she modestly replied “just affording food” but we would like to recognize that monthly bills along with groceries, are a heavy weight to carry alone. Our wish is for them to have one less thing to fear during this time.

Lorne has begun his treatments, and as expected, it’s taking its toll. He’s home resting and fighting, with his own calm determination, and the support of Amanda and their pups.

If you can’t share financially, please take a moment to share this fundraiser. We’re happy to pass on positive messages, prayers, and encouragement, though we are keeping the visits to a minimum to respect their privacy during this time. We’re honoured to advocate for our fellow beautiful humans and true friends, in their time of need.
Thank you Sincerely
