Please help our friend Lester

Hi everyone,

On Thursday February 5th Our friend Lester Valdez was a victim of a violent crime. While socializing after work with friends at a popular Winnipeg establishment, Lester was shot by a person unknown to him.

After undergoing critical intensive surgery, thankfully, doctors at the HSC were able to remove a small caliber bullet from Lester’s lower spine. Today, (February 13th) Lester remains recovering at HSC with family and friends by his side.

The severity of Lester’s injuries is still a medical uncertainty. He has regained sensation in his lower extremities but still faces many months of rehabilitation

Over the coming months our hopes for this campaign is to provide support for Lester and his young son. The financial burden while still unknown will be substantial.

We need your help ! Whether a good friend of Lester’s, or part of the tennis community at large any contribution towards this, “go fund me” will be spent towards his basic expenses, medical costs, child care, rehabilitation.

* most recent update * Lester has been advised by doctors he’ll need to keep his body totally flat for another 5 days and will remain at HSC. We’ll know more about his condition as his post operative recovery continues.
