For anyone who knows our mom, you know she is normally the one doing the care taking of others. Her entire life she has always given a helping hand to those in need including strangers all while raising her 3 children as a single mother, her grandchildren who were in the foster system, other foster children, and most recently cared for her husband who had strokes and her sister who had cancer. In just a few short months our family has suffered great loss and extreme financial difficulties. On December 1st our mom's sister (our aunt) passed away. Then only a week later our mom's husband of 21 years (our step dad) was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and kidney failure where he fought for more than 3 weeks. Sadly he did not survive and we lost him on December 30th. Her husband and her sister whom she helped care for the last couple years both contributed to the expenses of the home. Previous to these disheartening losses the children that she was fostering were placed elsewhere due to behavior issues which means she also lost the income from the foster program. She has experienced so much loss in her life and is now facing even more hurdles as we try to pay her mortgage, her husband's incoming medical bills, celebration of life expenses, and other expenses left behind with very limited income coming in. She also needs time to grieve these great losses but with the extra financial stress added this has been even more difficult for her. Our hopes are to get just a little breathing room to get her through the next couple months as it takes months for survivors benefits to be processed. We have never been the kind of people to ask for help but this deserving woman could use it. Anything you can do to help make it through this very rough time is beyond appreciated.
