On the night of November 22nd, our brother, Pedro Meza was struck by another vehicle while heading to work on his motorcycle in the Canoga Park area of the San Fernando Valley. He suffered a broken femur and lacerations while the unidentified driver of the vehicle took off, evading justice and accountability for their actions.
Pedro was quickly found and aided by good samaritans, and he was taken via ambulance to the Emergency Room at Northridge Medical Center Hospital where he was triaged before being moved to Northridge Hospital for surgery and physical therapy. Our brother has had round-the-clock care by their kind and capable nurses, surgeons, and staff. While in their care, Pedro has also had a loving and constant stream of friends and family visit him as he recovers from surgery.
We have been so lucky to have received medical equipment like a walker and wheelchair from friends and family to help Pedro while his leg heals and he regains his ability to walk on his own. These are items we could scarcely afford ourselves and we will forever be grateful to our loved ones for their generosity.
While we are immensely grateful for the help and services our brother has been provided, we are still not able to pay the hospital bills on our own. On top of this, Pedro will be out of work for at least a month while he recovers and will likely face eviction along with his family if they’re not able to make ends meet. Pedro was also uninsured at the time of incident, being unable to afford the proper motorcycle and health insurance coverage that could have helped him in this time of need.
We are asking for your help in the form of a donation of any amount you are able to give. Your donation will go straight to Pedro’s medical bills, rent, and utilities bills, which are currently estimated to reach at least $50,000.
As of today, November 26th, we still do not know the identity of the driver who struck Pedro. We are blessed to have leads and witnesses, increasing our hopes that investigators will succeed in their search and that we will see justice and accountability for the suffering Pedro has had to endure. In the meantime, we will keep you all updated as the search continues, and appreciate any information you may have about the incident.
We will continue to seek justice for Pedro. For now, it is a relief to know that we have the support of our friends, families, and members of our community.
Thank you for the time you took to read about Pedro’s accident, and the help you’ve given if you chose to donate. We hope you will share this with your friends and family, as well as through social media. The more help we can get for him, the better. Every little bit helps.
Pedro has a long journey of healing and therapy ahead of him. It makes a tremendous difference to know that our loved ones, our community, and the caring strangers of the internet are willing to support him through it.
Have a blessed day.
