Our oldest brother Derek started his fight with throat cancer over a year ago. Unfortunately, it progressed to a point where it became too difficult to talk or eat and he was unable to maintain employment as a construction foreman in the San Francisco area. We rallied around him as a family the best we could but his needs quickly outpaced our ability to provide. The good news is that he was eventually able to get the treatment needed to start to beat back the cancer!
Although he's not "out of the woods" we all feel like he's on a real path to recovery. This is why we need your help. At this point in time he is unable to work, but he is also unable to get enough assistance through social programs to absorb all the peripheral costs of trying to get well. We're trying to raise this money to provide a stop-gap measure to stay the course until he is well enough to take back his place in the work force, which he's being told won't be until January at the soonest.
Beyond immediate financial help we're also grateful to know about any groups or services in the San Francisco Bay Area that offer support to cancer patients.
