PLEASE HELP OUR BROTHER, JOHN

Hi, I'm Katherine, and our brother John Balmas who is 61, is in need of temporary financial help. John is the youngest of our siblings and took care of our aging parents as we made lives for ourselves and raising families. John is a good friend with a caring nature, but not one to ask for help, and to his detriment, this led to him losing his home in a tax foreclosure. This was upsetting to us all as it was our childhood home.

But the house became a secondary concern when we realized John had some serious health issues. On December 21, 2023, John lost his right foot to emergency amputation. John is recovering in the hospital, but due to this medical emergency, he will not be able to return to work for awhile. He has arranged to be able to return to the house temporarily but is needing to pay rent. His health insurance, which is through his employer, is costly during this unpaid leave of absence, but a necessity for his care during this health crisis.

John, like many of us, did not have the emergency funds set aside for something like this. We are helping him as much as we can, but are on fixed incomes.

Any money contributed will be used to help John with his rent, medical insurance and medical bills for the next 6 months until he is able to return to work and/or qualify for SS Disability payments. Any money you are willing to contribute is so greatly appreciated, and if you are not able to contribute, a prayer and a share with your friends and family would mean the world to John and us.

Update 1/27/24

John learned yesterday that he will be released to go home on Thursday, 2/1/24.

John has been working very hard on his PT and is feeling confident about living alone. He will be receiving home nurse

visits to change his bandages and home PT visits to continue his recovery.

John is hoping to return to work, if only part-time at first. He is very anxious to

return to his life. John is renting the house, but will need to vacate by the end of March.
