Please help our Brother James Carrillo’s family
Donation protected
Hello my name is Anthony. I am starting this GoFundMe for my partner, my Correctional Officer Brother James Carrillo who passed away January 8, 2023. I am starting this with the hope that the funds raised can help his family financially, after losing their husband and father who was their sole provider.
Please, anything you can do to help, with any amount you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please share this GoFundMe with as many friends and family as possible. Thank you! God bless you all. Stay safe.
James began his career with the California Department of Corrections on September 8, 1999 at the Basic Correctional Officers Academy in Galt, CA. Upon completion of the academy, Officer Carrillo was assigned to California Men's Colony (CMC) until his transfer to Wasco State Prison-Reception Center (WSP-RC) on May 15, 2000. Officer Carrillo remained at WSP-RC until his untimely passing.
James was a great partner. He was beloved by everyone at Wasco State Prison. It hurts my heart to use “was” when talking about him. He made so many of us laugh, he was the one carrying the load of the work, he made the long days at work more enjoyable. He was a good man! To some of us he was a good friend, to a few lucky ones he was a best friend, a fishing buddy. He was our computer guru. He was a good, hardworking Officer.
I want to leave you with this, something beautiful shared by one of James’s partners at a small memorial/tribute we had a Wasco State Prison after his passing.
To me he was Carrillo, my partner my friend and my big homie.
I remember back like 20 years ago working 3/w with him on A yard. At that time we had a close crew, back then you knew walking into the program office you better check your feelings at the door cause there was gonna be some serious team building going on inside.
To love Carrillo was to deal with all the clowning he was gonna do. He noticed everything and would be sure to tell you about it.
On the occasions I would have a good comeback it was priceless to see his eyes get big and watch him walk away.
You knew when he was around there were for sure gonna be some good laughs even if it was in quick passing.
Carrillo always had a story to tell or some random shenanigans to say. That’s what I will miss the most about him, his smile and the way he could always make people laugh.
Recently we have met at this flagpole too many times, to remember or say goodbye to a friend that has gone way too soon.
Let’s not take tomorrow for granted. Let’s be kind to one another, laugh with one another because sometimes laughter is all we’ve got to get through the day.
May God bless you all and keep you all safe.
Rest easy big homie. We got it from here.
