Please help our brother get out & about ! : )

Update:  we are following up on two bikes -located in Seattle.  We hope to have him out riding bikes with his daughters before the month is over , God willing.

My brother Marc…For those of you who don’t know. He was born with a rare disease of the bone and muscle called arthrogryposis. Both of his legs were contracted and folded at birth. Marc was in and out of the Seattle Children’s Hospital since birth for numerous surgeries and spent many years in full body casts and splints. He resided most of his early life in a cradle bed, called a banana bed. He was never expected to walk but to spend his life immobile.

His legs were straightened out by surgeons but still unable to bend his knees. He would army crawl & pull his legs behind him.

At the age of four I encouraged him and helped him to take his first steps after which he promptly fell and hit his forehead on our tile fireplace. He still has the scar ; which I take full responsibility for! I just wanted my little brother to walk. Which he eventually did ! he could keep up with us like nothing else!

We treated him no different and my parents made him work ~he even carried bricks, blocks and mud for our dad. He went on to work at McDonald’s and has had many jobs and actually pretty much kicks ass at anything he puts his mind to.

He has been suffering with chronic pain since birth and recently mentioned wanting to get out with his kids & ride a bike! This bike is special as it is built to be peddled with his arms.. It’s a special bike called a handtrike. I’ve researched it and it would be perfect for Marc.

 

Marc gets up early every single day ! makes it to work without fail for Handys Heating in Mount Vernon and his work ethic and dedication is amazing. He babysits my daughter, treats her as his own… he takes care of his children, he cleans his house after working all day! makes dinner, mows the yard. He would do anything for anyone !! He is so awesome & I want him to get the exercise he is craving…. Safely he could get around with this bike.

 

this bike brand new is $ 4000– & due to his large upper body - may need to be adjusted to meet his needs— as he is tall & it needs to be comfortable.

this trike is Perfect for him and I hope to meet this goal so that he can ride around and enjoy his life after working hard for so many years !

he doesn’t ask for much, so when he asked about this - I felt led to start this go fund me.
