PLEASE HELP: Our beloved cat Zelda has a tragic road injury!
Donation protected
On Easter Sunday, around midday, our beautiful and loving cat Zelda was sadly struck by a car just outside of our home in Totnes and sustained what appeared to be a hard head injury. Fortunately me and my toddler were not far down the road when we noticed the accident and were able to rush up and collect him from the road, with help from our neighbour and their car we were able to rush him to the emergency room! He has been under the care of the out of hours MiNight Veterinary Practice ever since, receiving critical treatment and diagnostics which are ongoing...
No amount of money could replace our boy - he is mine, my 3 year old daughter and family's soul and joy, and didn't deserve this heart breaking but unavoidable accident. The worst possible time for this to happen, if there is one, because not only was our Easter filled with crippling worry and sadness but as many a pet owner will know, the out of hours costs are scarily high. I am a 24 year old mother already struggling to provide and can't even fathom the costs to give our Zelda a fighting chance of survival and recovery. He remains in a touch and go position with cranial injuries and still some bleeding, unable to feed because of a dysfunction with his tounge, as well as a crippled leg - all signs of possible nerve damage. HOWEVER; an update this evening from the night care team has shown small signs of improvement with him now becoming alert, more comfortable, with slightly more function and his chances of recovery have gone from 50/50 to possibly 55/45?? Tonight they will attempt to feed him via syringe to see if he's able to regain some strength and all going to plan he will have a CT scan on Tuesday morning to confirm if he's free of neurological damage.
Now to the part of the situation that we really didn't want to think about until we had a solid prognosis. But the reality is the costs are rising at a rapid rate with the further diagnostics, care and nutrition he needs (IV food and fluids) and of course the amount of time (days and nights) he must stay within the care of the vets to allow his body and severe injuries the chance to heal enough to give enough strength to see if recovery is possible. But we have faith from what we have heard so far, which has gone slowly from hopeless to hopeful. He is strong, young (only just 4) , healthy and hugely LOVED. He does face potential nerve damage which it seems is the most difficult of damage to recover from, but IT IS certainly possible that he could make a full recovery if all goes well from here. Either way the costs are already into the thousands and with these costs rising every moment we are PLEADING for anything you can give towards SAVING our beautiful ragdoll boy and in turn our family. Of course IF he does pull through, he may require ongoing treatment and medication, but right now we are trying to take it step by step and just hopeful to cover the costs that can hopefully get him well enough to come HOME.
Zelda is our beloved companion, shadow, loved family member, rescued and rescues me from coping with immeasurable grief and loss in life, every day is met with and ended with him at our side, he shoulders and comforts me and my daughter and family. He is a truly special, treasured and unique boy. He is bright, vocal, hilarious and adored beyond measure.
As any pet/animal owner will know, when something so unexpected and painful happens to their beloved companion. The entire situation is agonising, I am really struggling to cope and feel present without him, in tears since it happened but trying to hold it together for my daughter especially. No matter how many times my loved ones console me, I just can't relax having seen him like this and not knowing whether he'll be okay after such a traumatic accident. But we do strongly believe deep down that he can come through the other side and still experience a full and beautiful life. (-1 out of 9 lives!!!)
Me and my family are asking with our whole soul's for some desperate help to assist in raising £3,000 for our cat Zelda's urgent veterinary treatment. But please pledge what you can afford, every little helps and all is greatly and appreciatively received.
We did instantly enquire about any possible payment plan but unfortunately this practice doesn't offer that and there are no other alternatives for financial support, so my family are working together to manage finances, one bill has already been covered but they just keep being raised and rising !
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit this page and for your kind thoughts and consideration to supporting him and us..
We will post updates as and when we receive them as well as updated estimated costs,
With love,
Marley, Family and of course Zelda (bear) xx
