UPDATE!
Oakley is doing okay and her health is stable for the time being, she is taking 10-11 medications a day to support with digestion and passing of fluid that is leaking into her abdomen. She’s also eating 3-4 times a day, but is a very fussy eater so everything has to be cooked in front of her so that she gains the appetite to eat it. She’s lost 10 kgs within the last eat so eating food and taking her medication is so important! She doesn’t have a proper diagnosis all that can be found is that she has a congenital liver failing issue (she was born with a liver 1/4 of size of what it should be). This is very rare and isn’t seen in a lot of dogs. With this being said she’s only 2, her whole life is in front of her. Any money donated is being used to support the costs of her medication and vet specialist appointments. I have stepped down from my job to be at home with her while I study from home. We all know that vets are super expensive especially medications that are costing $500 every 3 weeks. Donate for her, every little bit helps
Hello, my name is Mikayla and I'm fundraising for my beautiful little Rottweiler Oakley.
This is Oakley, the absolute sweetest girl, she’s so intelligent, playful and loving, she brings us so much comfort and lights up our world, we absolutely adore her. Liam and I are her parents, she is our fur baby, and this is our little family.
A couple of days ago we took Oakley to the vet as we noticed her stomach was quite large and solid, she needed to go back the next day to do all sorts of tests and exams, we were told to be optimistic but also to expect the absolute worst.
The next day Oakley was diagnosed with liver failure/liver shunting causing her body to slowly shut down, the vet explained that she’s had this since birth but some dogs don’t start showing symptoms until 4-5 years old, meanwhile she’s only 2
3L of fluid was drained from her abdomen, surgery, blood tests, ultrasounds, medications, she is exhausted.
Our hearts completely shattered when we were told she could only have 1-3 months to live, if you are a pet owner this is quite literally the worst possible news you can hear. We were referred to see a specialist as they might have a different outcome and could inform us of ways she could live a longer life, but it is quite costly, thus causing financial stress along with everything else going on
Liam and I, plus our family are not doing okay, this is one of the most heartbreaking and painful experiences I’ve ever had to live through, we are taking it day by day but it is extremely hard to stay optimistic all the time, but we are doing it for Oakley, she’s a piece of our family and without her we are missing a puzzle piece
We just want to be able to give Oakley the opportunity to be in the best possible hands and see if there is a chance for her to live a longer and fulfilling life, like I said she’s only 2, she’s just a puppy there’s still so much more for her to explore in this world!
All of the funds will be used to pay for expenses such as Veterinary Bills, Specialists, Medicines and any procedures that can help extend Oakley's life.
Anything you can spare is very appreciated and I wouldn’t be able to thank you enough for the support in this difficult time!
Do it for Oakley
Every little bit counts ✨
