Hi everyone, my name is Michelle Hannah (nee Filo) and I worked with Bev, Rolf and their beautiful four girls at DDB for seven years, and now like so many, have the privilege to call them my dear friends.

I have set up this page to help our incredible friend Bev Burchell who has been through the most unimaginable year.

Just one year ago, Bev suffered two seizures out of the blue and was rushed to hospital. After days of scans and tests, she received devastating news, a Grade 4 brain tumour (Glioblastoma). She has since endured brain surgery, daily radiation and months of chemotherapy, all with the same positivity, humour and strength that we all love her for.

Recently, Bev received the heartbreaking news that a new tumour has appeared. Thankfully it is smaller and has stabilised for now, but it means continued treatment, ongoing scans and an uncertain road ahead. Through it all, Bev continues to face every challenge with grace, courage and that trademark sparkle that never fades.

Anyone who knows Bev knows she is the heart of every room, warm, funny and endlessly generous. Bev and Rolf have spent more than 20 years feeding and caring for others through Bev’s Café at DDB, where she built not just a business but a family, it was the heart of DDB. All four Burchell girls have worked at the cafe over the years and each of them have had such an positive impact on so many. Sadly, when DDB began struggling, Bev’s Café was terminated after 20 amazing years.

It has been such a difficult time, and Bev and Rolf have now had to leave Sydney and move out of Sydney down to Berry because the cost of living here became impossible, all while Bev continues her treatment and recovery.

Through everything, Bev remains her incredible self, strong, grateful and surrounded by love from Rolf and their four beautiful girls Alexa, Ellie, Holly and Tess.

Now it is our turn to show the Burchells the same kindness they have given so many of us over the years. Please, if you can, donate whatever you are able to help Bev and Rolf through this next chapter to cover ongoing treatment costs, living expenses and to give them the space to focus on healing and family.

They have given so much to others. Let’s give back to them now.
