This is Ollie's story from his devoted mum Emma:

Ollie, our vibrant, energetic and loving dog, unexpectedly vanished during the recent storms on December 14th.

After an agonising 8 day search, with the incredible support of our community, Ollie was found on December 22nd. Sadly he has sustained a severe leg injury caused by wire which had wrapped around his hind leg in a corkscrew fashion from ankle to hip -causing extensive and deep lacerations.

Due to being stuck like this for 8 days through storms, humidity, and floods, the wound is deeply infected and Ollie is currently in critical care with the next few hours being crucial for his care and recovery.

The emergency vet has informed us that if he pulls through the "best case scenario" may involve amputation of his leg, and even if they do amputate there may not be enough skin salvageable for a successful amputation - so it will be a complex case.

We are facing an uncertain future for our beloved Ollie. We want to do the best for our gorgeous boy who held on for so long despite all the odds being stacked against him.

He is in the best place now but his associated medical expenses are significant. The initial critical care and treatment to try and stabilise him is expected to cost $8000.

We have been advised to set up a Go Fund Me to try and cover some of these costs. Every contribution no matter how small will make a huge difference in Ollie's recovery.

Ollie has brought immeasurable joy to our lives, and has been my sanity saver with my recovery from stroke and ongoing battle with an autoimmune condition. His playful spirit and unwavering affection are a constant source of comfort and happiness for our family.
