: Olivia passed at 12:24 pm on Valentines Day. Processing this loss is very difficult. We need help raising funds and awareness now more than ever.
Our daughter, Olivia, was born at 9:06pm on February 9th, 2017. She's a beautiful
, happy, 6 pound baby girl!
Tragically, she also has a fatal
heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome
We learned about Olivia's fatal heart condition at 24 weeks of pregnancy. We were devastated. But we were also determined to do everything we could to help her.
We sought multiple specialists -- including pioneers at Boston Children's Hospital. We studied all available research voraciously. We prayed for a solution.
Sadly, the only treatment for HLHS today is a series of invasive heart surgeries. These surgeries are extremely risky, very expensive, and with questionable prognosis.
What's worse, Olivia's birth weight and the particulars of her HLHS makes operations completely infeasible.
So we're left with two options: put Olivia through terrible pain before death or let her pass as nature takes it's course.
We've opted for the compassionate second choice.
There have been terrible side effects of this situation for our family:
My wife has been unable to work since the diagnosis -- fighting crippling depression. And, as a self-employed software engineer, I've been struggling keeping enough work to maintain income.
Our income has halved since this began. If it weren't for the kindness of Chris Chuter, founder of http://peeple.io,
my family would already be destitute.
The result of all this is that our savings is decimated. Our expenses are climbing and we're still facing the burial of our daughter.
I'm sure that once we've gotten past this then we'll recover. But the trick will be doing so without going bankrupt.
Any funds donated will help us cover our mounting expenses while we process this terrible grief and begin to rebuild our life.
Thanks for reading. Any support would be deeply appreciated by our entire family. It really will make the difference in our situation.
Please help if you can and share with anyone you think would moved to help.
